The
NSW VHF DX Group is an informal group of New South Wales (VK2) Amateur Radio
Operators interested in simplex communication at VHF and UHF over extended
distances using any appropriate mode. Members of the Group engage in both
Terrestrial and EME communication, and use a variety of modes, which include SSB,
CW, FSK441 and JT44. Membership is informal; there are no officers or fees.
This
website is intended as an information resource for all amateurs interested in
weak-signal communication, with a particular emphasis on the situation in
Eastern Australia. Frequencies of interest range from 144MHz to 2.4GHz; the
50MHz fraternity already have their own extensive range of resources, and the
microwave enthusiasts their own personal networks. The buttons on the left give some indication of the range of
information we hope to make available, either directly on this site or in the
form of links to other relevant sites. This vision will take some considerable
time to be realized, and we ask visitors to accept for a while that many of the
buttons have no destination file yet.
The group used to hold meetings every second month at Amateur Radio House in Parramatta, NSW. However, following an extended period of rather small attendances, these meetings were abandoned from late 2003 in favour of on-air discussions and occasional social get-togethers.
Members
of the NSW VHF DX Group (and anyone else interested) usually take part in a net each
Sunday at 1100hrs local time on the Blue Mountains FM Repeater (147.050MHz).
This net depends on the availability of Group members, and does not always
happen!
